5/25/16 Missy is a sweet but timid dog who will need a patient owner, preferably in a quiet home with a fenced yard and another dog for company. Once she bonds, she is a great lap dog with her people and a playmate with other dogs. She is good with cats, housetrained, spayed, & vaccinated. Because she needs extra time and TLC to settle in, she has a reduced adoption fee, and for a senior on a limited income, we will accept partial payments over time.
12/17/15 Update from the foster family:
Missy has been at our house a couple of months now and has gotten comfortable with us. She is a very people friendly dog once she gets to know you. She will initially run from strangers, but some she will let pet her pretty quickly. She prefers to hide in her crate if people come to the house, but the rest of the time she is out of the crate and hanging out with us on the couch. She is also very dog and cat friendly. She loves to play and cuddle with our Chihuahua, and will sniff at the cats and sit by them. She is completely house-trained, and will let you know when she needs to go out. She has some trouble outside with going to the bathroom if there are any unfamiliar noises, but we have a quiet spot behind our house that she uses without any problem. She doesn't like to be left out of anything. She is always around us and the other pets. She would do best in a quiet neighborhood with little street traffic. Since she is easily startled, a fenced yard would be best. She would be a great companion for another dog. She is a sweet little dog with a funny personality and just needs someone to give her a chance.
11/1/15: Missy is making herself at home with her new buddies. She very very timid at first, but she's doing okay here most times, except for occasional setbacks with loud noises like motorcycles, fireworks, nail guns, etc.
Notes from the shelter:
Well it took some time, but I'm ready! I'm ready for it all. The belly rubs, the naps on the couch, and doing zooms in the backyard. I just can't believe life can be this good! You see I thought all people were bad. My first owner wasn't nice to me at all. Then she chased down a scary truck, and put me in the back. I heard her say she didn't care what happened to me. That's when I lost all hope, but I then I met these wonderful people. They took me home, and they were so nice. They understood I wasn't ready to love again yet, and they were patient with me. They let me take my time, and come to them when I was ready. Now my foster parents let me sleep on the couch! I get treats and get to play with my foster brothers and sisters. They let me do whatever makes me happy, and they give me belly scratches! They are so nice, and I'm so happy I met them. I know I can love again, and I know I'm ready for my fur-ever family. I know can love you too!
