About Marco & Tito

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Adoption Fee: $300
  • Species: Alpaca
  • Color: black
  • Current Age: 8 Years 8 Months (best estimate)

Tito & Marco are two gelded (neutered male)alpaca who have been together for years.  Alpaca are pack animals so need company, so we are looking for ahome where they can go together.

Tito (Tiger Tel Reno) is an outgoing black alpaca with white socks and a white chin.  He was gelded but since one testicle was undescended at the time, he may have more testosterone  then most geldings, and does tend to be pushy and dominant with other alpacas.    He will come right up eagerly to eat out of your hand but  will shy away if you try to pet him, although since he's so food oriented, we think he could be tamed easily if worked with regularly.    He was infested with meningeal worms last year (they come from white tailed deer in the area), and has some residual neurological damage so he is wobbly in his movements.

Marco (Thunder Makerr) is a sweet light brown gelded alpaca.  He is a mild mannered boy and when young was a 4-H animals and was led by children in competitions. He will come right up eagerly to eat out of your hand but  is hesitant about being petted.   Once harnessed, he leads fairly easily and we think he would regain his tameness with someone who could work with him regularly.

Alapaca need room for grazing and shelter from the rain and snow.  They need annual shots, and need to be sheared once a year, at which time there feet and teeth are trimmed as well.  Pictures below show before and after shearing.

Requirements for adoption of a barnyard animal:

    2) Email pictures of the shed/barn and fenced pen the animal will be kept in.

    3) List the name of a local vet who can treat this specific type of animal. (You do not have to already be clients)

    4) Local zoning must allow the animals on your property (for example, a locality may require 5+ acres for barnyard animals, or may limit to one large animal per acre)
