5/13/12  FOSTER MOM'S UPDATE: They are wonderful pups. They are still shy when first meeting new people but are so loving once they know you.  They are not big chewers at all and have never tried to chew on my hands at all -- amazing really.  They are excellent in their pen overnight and I have left them in the pen during the day for up to 3 hours and they've been fine.  Of course, they have each other for company.  There has been no pooping except outside for weeks.  Petey is better at not peeing in the house and when he does have an accident indoors he almost always goes into his pen to pee on the papers.  Phoebe is still having a couple of pee accidents a day even though I take them out every 1/2 hour!  I'm sure she'll get it soon!  They love other dogs and are very good with my cats.  Phoebe sometimes wants to be a little pushy with Petey and the other dogs over food and treats so I think she may not do well with another very dominant dog. (She is more Alpha dog)  Petey will get along with anybody (He is a submissive dog).  They are excellent in the car.  Phoebe barks a bit more than Petey but neither are big barkers.  Since they are probably going to find seperate forever homes, they would do better with another dog in your home for companionship since they are used to having each other.

4/20/12 Update: Petey is one of the sweetest puppies I've ever met!  He comes running to greet you with his whole body wagging and he is always ready to give lots of wonderful puppy kisses.   He likes to be near people and often wants to sit in my lap.  He also loves to have his belly rubbed.  Petey is very active and loves to run and play with his sister, Phoebe.  He settles down nicely though and sleeps through the night in his pen.  He is making progress with housebreaking.  Petey likes other dogs and is good with cats.

The two pups are expected to arrive 4/14/12.  The black & white is a girl and the black & tan is a boy.   These pups were part of a pack of dogs running loose on a rural SC property. Some of the pups had frozen to death and one of the dads and two of the moms moms had major foot injuries (with exposed bones!) from being caught in traps. Despite this, all three injured dogs (Heart, Peanut, & Oliver) and the surviving pups were super sweet.

Notes from the shelter: These are the last five of Heart & Peanut’s pups…cute as buttons.  There are 3 boys and 2 girls.  They are likely to be smaller dogs as grown ups, with 25 lb moms, and 35 lb dad, Oliver.  Please take these babies!!!  They are all love muffins and if they are like their parents, they will remain so.  They are about 10-11 weeks old right now but still small.
