4/14/12 Update:
Sam continues to be an absolute treasure. He has not made a potty mistake in the house in over 5 days. He learned our doggie door the first day he was here. He is a smart little man. He has done soooo well with all three of the dogs that were here at my house this week. My two dogs, an older dominant female and my young SUPER playful Husky Mix. We also had a friends dog over and former Tree Top doggie Bode who is a young super energetic male. They were thick as thieves:) They played all day and came in a relaxed on their doggie beds in the evening. Sam has already earned our trust and sleeps beautifully through the night with no mishaps(out of the crate...we do crate him during the day when not at home). He is doing great with our cats, we have two cats that think they are dogs, one large male who will just move slowly but continue on course, and a younger male cat who will bat at the dogs if they are acting up and will run and jump and get away if need be. Sam is interested but is def not aggressive and is respectful of the older larger cat completely. He is sooo cute in person. Please consider the beautiful Samson to be your family member, he deserves it.
4/8/12 (The foster has renamed him Sampson) Update from the first day in foster care: Just wanted to give you and update on Samson, he is amazing, sweet playful and all the things you want a dog to be. When he first arrived at my house he went straight out to the yard and ran in circles for about 10 minutes he was soooo happy. It brought tears to my eyes. He LOVES my other dog Cody and would love to be friend with my older dog Tasha but she has to establish that she is boss, so she checks him here and there...which he is very respectful of. He loves to play rough so he would not do well with timid dogs. He is interested in my cats but we are working on that and he is doing soooo well. Has made one potty mistake so far so again he is a work in process...he pees like a girl which is very cute. He def has a puppy vibe he runs with reckless abandon and def should have a yard to run and play in. I can't say enough good things about him...he is a total love!!! He protested a bit going to bed last night but slept through the night beautifully. Just LOVE HIM:)
Notes from the shelter: Meet the fabulous Dioji! Dioji is a 1-2 year old, round-headed Terrier mix who was found wandering around a park in Philadelphia. No one has come to claim him so now he is looking for a new foster or adoptive home! Dioji has a great disposition, loves meeting new people and is appropriate and friendly with other dogs! He has no issues with basic or advanced handling and has no issues with food. He loves to play with toys, but also knows to give them up nicely when playing with his human friends. He pulls a bit on the leash, but understands that he's supposed to walk nicely next to his handler. Dioji is very food motivated and training would be a breeze with him! Dioji showed no interest in the cats here in the shelter, even with the ones who hissed at him. Dioji has met many dogs since coming to the shelter and he loves to romp and play with them, but also knows to give those who aren't completely comfortable with him, the space they need while getting used to him. Dioji has met children here at the shelter and was friendly and polite with them! He would make a great family dog. Please consider adopting this sweet, sweet boy!
