4/25/12 Monkie's foster mom's words: Monkie is doing so well.  I am so proud of his growth.  He adores Lexie and Frankie too!  He's becoming more confident with new people who come into our home.  He's an awesome dog.  I hope he finds a forever home soon :)

3/6/12 NEW UPDATE ON MONK FROM HIS FOSTER MOM: Monk was transfered to our home from his previous foster home in hopes that the change in foster homes will make him more socialized and ease his fears.  His old foster family LOVED Monk(or Monkey as we call him) and were very sad to see him go.  We all agreed a change in scenery would be beneficial to him and crucial in helping him learn to trust new people.  The first 24 hours were tough for Monk, he was very nervous and scared.  As per his previous fosters suggestion we let him be on his own and come to us when he was ready to.  He opened up to me first(he likes women alot).  After the first day he began to let me pet him, and after a few more days he let my boyfriend pet him too.

In my experience giving him time to open up and learn to trust us is important and not forcing anything.  He loves our 2 dogs and has never shown any aggression towards them, he shares his food and likes to snuggle with them on the sofa.  He is VERY LOW KEY and low maintenance.  It took a few days but now he goes out in the yard on his own without be carrying him(which also took a few days for him to allow me to pick him up)...We have had him ONLY 2 WEEKS and I have to say without a shadow of a doubt, he is one ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DOGGIE!!!  All he wants is love.  He loves to nap and snuggle, and has a storng bladder and goes out to the yard to goto the bathroom on his own a few times daily.  He gives kisses to me and my boyfriend every second he can and loves to snuggle up beside us.  He sleeps in our bed in between us and doesn't move a muscle during the night.  We are insanely in love with him.  He is so sweet and loving.  Monk needs a forever home that will be patient with him(it only took a few days) and not try to force anything on him, he comes around in his own time.

Whoever gets this little guy is incredibly lucky, he is an angel.

Monk would be best suited in a home with no small kids(he is scared of them and may have been abused or tortured by a kid)...He loves women, but opens up in a few days to men who show him love and kindness.  He has been through an awful life and deserves a great home.  He would be perfect for a older couple since he does not require much excersise.

He walks very calmly on a lease.  He is a special little doggie...Can you give him the forever family and home this angel deserves?  He will love you more than you could never know!!

1/24/12 Monk is a handsome pale colored beagle/spaniel mix rescued from a  hoarding situation 6 months ago.  He had never been outside the house, never known people except the owner, never eaten from a bowl or played with a toy, had never been housebroken or been on a leash.  He was absolutely petrified  being out in the real world and it took a long time to win his trust.  Although he will still need a patient owner to continue to work with him moving forward, he's come a LONG LONG way.  With people he knows, especially women, he is a sweet companiable  lap dog. Monk is now healthy, neutered, and up to date on shots.
