Looking for the right home.
1/5/13 Candy is housetrained, crate trained, walks great on a leash and loves walks. She is great in a car too and loves to travel with you. She sits for treats and is very gentle when you hand her a treat. She is very loyal to her humans and will do anything for you. Candy is a fun dog that loves to play with other dogs as long as they are not dominant. She likes to play with people and toy. She is very loving and very funny with her stocky spunkiness. She will keep you laughing all day long. She can be high energy when playing with her playmates and then be a low key couch potato and take a nice nap in her dog bed or next to you as a TV buddy. She was micro chipped, got her nails clipped and the cut on her toe pad healing great and she is not bothered by it any longer. The vet also said that he thought she is about 3-4 yrs old. She is a great dog that loves to go for rides in the car and walks on a leash. She loves to lay in your lap. She may have a little hound in her because her body type looks like one, very short and stocky but she does not howl at all.
NOTE: Candy has food aggression only towards other dogs and can be pushy with getting toys from other dogs too. If you put her in her place she does much better. My Chi will let her take her toys and they get along great but a dog that will not stand for this type of possession challenge with probably set off a fight. She has had a few fights with our other dog, a Pug, but she has never bit or drew blood.
12/30/12 Candy is here. She will be going to the vet tomorrow. She some how cut one of her toe pads on her front paw when she was at the shelter and it will be looked at tomorrow too - she is limping from it because it probably hurts. She is a really great dog and such a love bug. She is overweight but that is easily fixed with exercise and a low fat diet. She will follow you from room to room and she loves to lay in doggie beds. She is so cute because she is laying in a Chihuahua doggie bed and she looks like she is overflowing out of the bed but she doesn't mind at all. She is a chow hound and will beg at the table when you are eating. It is hard to tell her NO when she puts her face in your lap - but we are doing it. She is sleeping in a crate at night but would rather sleep in your bed, she does cry for a few minutes then settles down. She loves people and is very friendly. She does know SIT and does follow basic commands. She is very low maintenance.
Shelter Evaluation Notes on Candy: A Sweet Treat! Don't be fooled by my frowny face as I am one happy, carefree, young lady looking for a good time. Easy going and very unflappable, other dogs, kids and cats are A-Ok in my little black book. I enjoy going and doing and folks will tell you I'm a wonderful leash walker and very well mannered. A little bit of a chunky monkey, I'm solid and sturdy and belly rubs make me grin with great pleasure. Look to add me to you home today as I will be the perfect lo-calorie sweet to help keep you trim and fit in 2013!
