4/26/12 The evaluation from the foster mom: Sierra is a very sweet and happy go lucky 7 mo. old black lab mix. She is currently 33 lbs. and is just the perfect size dog, not too big and not too small. Although she is a puppy, Sierra has moderate energy. She loves to give affection as well as receive it! She showers us with kisses and thinks she is a lap dog and also loves to curl up next to you on the sofa. She loves to be with people and always to follow someone around, where ever the action is. She is so curious about everything. She is learning about household and outdoor noises and shys away from loud noises. She has really taken to my husband and loves children and running around the yard with my 10 yr. old daughter!. Sierra loves to mouth a tennis ball, but sticks, she doesn't quite know what to do with except chew them! She does well in the car and is learning about being on a leash! We are working on house training and she has made great progress in the past week. She loves to chew on bones and an occasional slipper. So far Sierra has loved everyone she has met and is learning some basic commands. So far, she has met several dogs and seemed to like them. Cats we are unsure about at this point. She is such a beautiful girl with so much love to give! Sierra is truly a gem who loves to play! We are looking for a great family that is willing to take the time to further her training so that she will become a wonderful adult dog. "Animals are only as good as we teach them." She is very smart and is doing wonderful in her foster home. She would probably be wonder with someone that loves to walk, hike or jog too.
She started out in a crate for four days, but after she got comfortable and wanted to be around us, my husband caved and she sleeps in the bed. She stays there all night so content and no accidents at night.
She is a good watch dog, but only barks for a reason if she hears an unfamiliar noise or meets someone for the first time, but as she approaches someone, she is a love and is so happy to greet them! She has done well in the car. She seemed comfortable and looking around, then settled down on a blanket. No car sickness thus far.
