Description:
Poor Becky! We thought we had finally found her a forever home, but although they love her dearly they live in a downtown neighborhood and she needs to be a country dog. We are looking for a home for Becky where she can have a fenced yard to play in and places to walk without being distrurbed by unwanted confrontations with other dogs.
Becky is a one of a kind dog- a bulldog/corgi mix with unique looks and a very sweet personality. Becky is a GREAT family dog, as she is very friendly to people, loves and is gentle with kids of all ages, and she has a calm and laid back manner. She's definitely a companion dog and will follow you around and lay by your feet. She loves being petted, but she isn't pushy about asking for attention. She loves stuffed animals, chew bones, and balls. And she loves cats, although they don't enjoy her attempts to groom and nuzzle them as if they were puppies. Becky is spayed, up to date on shots, and housetrained. She graduated from an obedience class with flying colors, and is walking well on a leash.
Although wonderful with people, Becky is highly dominant with other dogs and absolutely insists on all dog interactions being on her own terms, so she should be an only dog. Just to be clear, she is NOT at all dominant with people, just with other dogs. She is not actively aggressive and can ignore dogs who leave her alone, but she will attempt to physically reprimand any dog who invades her personal space without permission. This is a problem in her current neighbrohood which has many dogs around, some wandering off-leash, and some just as dominant as she is.
2/27/09 This is Becky with her favorite toy, a stuffed fire hydrant. She cares for it as if it was a puppy- she croons to it, licks it, nudges it, and gently carries it around, then places it in her bed with her to sleep.
Feb 2009: Becky just arrived from a Philadelphia shelter where she was taken in as a stray by animal control. She was dirty and matted, had some skin dermatitis and parasites, and somewhat thin and ragged but with treatment and good nutrition, she'll really have a beautiful coat. Becky appears to be housetrained, walks fairly well on a leash, and wants to please but clearly hasn't had any real training, so we're working on basic commands like sit, stay, and come, as well as more leash training.
